      <image:caption>Il respiro Ujjayi, detto anche respiro vittorioso,viene praticato contraendo gentilmente i muscoli della laringe, creando così una leggera costrizione del dietro della gola, che genera una resistenza al respiro e ne facilita l’allungamento. La restrizione della gola ci dà  l’opportunità di restringere leggermente il flusso dell’aria e ci dà maggior controllo del processo di respirazione, facilitando il rallentamento del respiro. Questo respiro aiuta anche ad attivare il nervo vago. Il rumore gentile che viene generato in questo respiro diventa un oggetto di concentrazione durante la pratica, e ci aiuta a portare l’attenzione interiormente, possibilmente allontanandoci dalla mente ruminante.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - Benvenute! Sono Marcella Fulco, medico, scienziata, insegnante di Yoga, Yoga terapeuta e Yoga Health Coach. La mia missione è quella di aiutare donne che come me hanno tra i 40 e i 60 anni e che soffrono di una serie di problemi legati alla perimenopausa e alla menopausa, utilizzando strumenti derivati dallo Yoga e dalla medicina ayurvedica. Data la mia formazione medico-scientifica, mi piace integrare gli antichi insegnamenti con le più recenti scoperte delle neuro-scienze, così da offrire strumenti antichi in una chiave più moderna, nonché strumenti più moderni, con l’obiettivo di far sì che le donne che entrano in questa nuova fase della vita, possano continuare a godere di una buona salute mentale, di benessere psico -fisico, vivere una vita carica di significato e raggiungere il loro massimo potenziale.</image:title>

      <image:title>Chi sono - CIAO! Sono Marcella Fulco, medico, scienziata, insegnante di Yoga, Yoga terapista e Yoga Health Coach. Sono approdata allo Yoga dopo aver lavorato per diversi anni come biologo molecolare presso l’NIH ( National Institutes of Health Bethesda, MD, Stati Uniti). Soffrivo di ansia generalizzata e ho scoperto in prima persona i benefici di una pratica Yoga, che fosse specificamente disegnata per i disturbi di ansia. Lo Yoga ha cambiato il corso della mia vita e ho deciso di dedicarmi anima e corpo allo studio di questa antica disciplina. Ho ben presto realizzato che viviamo in un momento storico eccezionale, la ricerca scientifica, specialmente nel campo delle neuro-scienze, nelle ultime decadi ha fatto passi da gigante e ci ha fornito e continua a fornirci la spiegazione scientifica degli effetti benefici dello Yoga e della mindfulness. Rimanendo una scienziata nel cuore, mi sono avventurata nello studio delle neuro-scienze con passione, per comprendere meglio il funzionamento del sistema nervoso, soprattutto del sistema nervoso autonomo (e la recente teoria poli-vagale di Steve Porge) e comprendere in chiave scientifica le scoperte a cui gli antichi saggi dello Yoga erano arrivati attraverso la loro esplorazione personale, usando il loro corpo come laboratorio. E sebbene la scienza Yogica sia millenaria, e rappresenta un enorme valore per l’umanità, non è una scienza statica, ma in continua evoluzione, e quindi a mio avviso può essere sicuramente integrata con pratiche nuove, che emergono via via dall’esplorazione più contemporanea nel campo del movimento, della mindfulness e di altre tecniche meditative. Pratiche, che sono supportate o talvolta addirittura ispirate dalle nuove scoperte scientifiche. Negli ultimi anni ho deciso di occuparmi soprattutto delle donne di mezza età, delle problematiche legate alla transizione menopausale ed ho scoperto con grande piacere come una pratica Yoga adeguatamente adattata ai bisogni di questa popolazione (di cui io faccio parte) possa davvero essere di beneficio , su più livelli, da quello fisico, a quello mentale, emotivo e spirituale. Quando mi fermo a pensare, mi sento davvero molto fortunata di aver avuto nella mia vita la possibilità di studiare l'essere umano nella sua interezza, dai livelli molecolari e cellulari alla sua anatomia, fisiologia e patologia, fino ai livelli sottili, invisibili (ciò che gli yogi chiamano corpi sottili e causali). Ora sono completamente dedicata a condividere con le donne “mature” i vari strumenti dello Yoga (incluso lo stile di vita) per aiutarle in questa fase delicata della vita a riscoprire tutto il loro potenziale e ritrovare benessere fisico, emotivo e spirituale.</image:title>

      <image:caption>È una forma di Health Coaching, che include anche la Yoga terapia, ed è specializzato per le donne nella transizione menopausale o che siano già in menopausa. In questa fase della vita, in cui avvengono tanti cambiamenti sia d tipo ormonale che di tipo fisico ed emotivo, è importante cominciare a prendersi cura di sè, in maniera specifica e mirata, per poter sostenere al meglio una fisiologia in cambiamento e anche per gettare le basi per un futuro di salute e benessere. Le donne in post-menopausa sono molto più a rischio di malattie croniche infiammatorie, quali il diabete, le malattie cardiovascolari, l’osteoporosi e le malattie degenerative. I cambiamenti dello stile di vita devono tener conto proprio di questi rischi ed essere mirati a prevenirli. In queste sessioni di health coaching ti sosterrò a mettere in atto una serie di cambiamenti del tuo stile di vita, a definire una tua routine di Yoga, e ti fornirò tutte le risorse necessarie che possano esserti d’aiuto ( fogli di lavoro, libri di ricette, guide di vario tipo, accesso a classi di Yoga, meditazioni, workshops e corsi pre-registrati) Queste sessioni sono di natura collaborativa, e richiedono un ruolo attivo da parte tua e la messa in pratica delle abitudini suggerite tra una sessione e l’altra.</image:caption>
